Stage 1 Examination
After tyre removal, your wheels are placed on a wheel balancer to check for any buckles, flat spots, cracks etc.
If any tig welding or straightening is required (charges will apply) we will inform you prior to continuing the job.
Stage 2 – Chemically Stripped
After examination has been completed, the wheels are then placed in a stripping tank to remove all of the paint.
Stage 3 – Cleaning
Wheels are power hot washed to clean any remaining traces of chemical.
Stage 4 – Preparation
Wheels are then prepped, having any of the kerbing marks removed, to do this we use several tools and have a purpose made machine using a selection of different discs and grinding wheels. Should the wheel have very deep marks then the area is tig welded to fill in the damage (extra costs may apply if this is required).
Stage 5 – Media Blasting
This involves a light media blasting to remove any remaining paint residue and surface corrosion from the entire wheel, achieved by using the machine pictured.
Stage 6 – De-Gassing
Wheels are then placed in our industrial oven heated to 200 degrees to de-gas the alloy.
Stage 7 – Primer Coat
After the de-gas stage high quality powder coat primer is applied and the wheel in returned to the oven for curing.
Stage 8 – Base Coat Application
The wheel is then allowed to cool to a lower temperature then a base coat (colour) is applied using a top quality professional HVLP spray gun, returned to the oven for stoving.
Stage 9 – Final Lacquer Coat
Upon removal from the oven wheels are allowed to cool to a lower temperature, then a powder clear lacquer is applied and the wheel is returned to the oven for final curing, then removed from the oven and allowed to cool down.
Stage 10 – Process Complete
After a final inspection, tyre is refitted and the wheel is balanced – end of process.
